To start we need to download these images. Click on the image to enlarge, then right click on it and select “Save as…”

Then Open Photoshop and go to File > Automate > Photomerge*

*if you can’t find this option in you photoshop version continue reading, I’ll explain an alternate version of how to do this.

A dialog box will open up. Using the “Browse” button select the 4 files you’ve just downloaded and choose auto as the layout. Click OK and wait.

And that’s it. You’ll probably see that the borders of the different pictures aren’t well aligned. You just need to crop the image like you can see in the picture below

And now you’re done!

An Alternate Version

Another way to do this is to Auto-Align Layers.

On a new file paste two images, you can use “image_01” and “image_02“. Remeber to put each image in a different layer.

Go to the Layer’s Panel and select the two layers.

Go to Edit> Auto-Align Layers.

A dialog box will open. Choose Auto as the Projection.

Hit OK and there you go. You’re Done!

This is what we’re learning on today’s tutorial

First let’s open this image:

Duplicate de layer Layer > Duplicate layer or just hit CTRL + J. Invert that Layer. Image > Adjustments > Invert or hit CTRL + i. Set the layer mode to Vivid Light.

Next go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur and set the radius to: 0,5*

then we need to add a High Pass Filter. To do this go to Filter > other > high Pass and set 2,1 for the radius.

In this step don’t pay atention to the fact that the eyes and mouth are also blurring, we’ll remove that later just try to get the skin as smooth and real as you can.

Next we add a Layer Mask to our layer. Go to Layer > Layer Mask > Hide all

You should see a black rectangle next to the image thumbnail. That’s fine, you didn’t lose all the work you’ve been doing, it’s just hidden. To make it appear again we need to use a Soft Brush and white as foreground color.

Click on the mask thumbnail (the black rectangle on the layers panel) and start painting over the skin parts. You’ll see that the effect comes back only on the skin.

if you’re doing this the right way you’ll see that the shape of a face starts appearing on that layer mask. When you finish with the skin of the face and neck lower the opacity of the mask to 60%.

and this is the final result:

Probably she doesn’t look 30 years younger, but we gave her a fresher look.

We’re going to start with a basic color change. Open this image of an eye.

Now select the iris. Use any selection tool you like. I used the elipse tool.

As you can see the selection is bigger than the color part so we need to substract the bottom part of the selection. To do this we’re going to use the Lasso tool, making sure that the substract mode is selected. Check the image below and draw a selection similar to the one I did.

Ok, now that we’ve selected the part that we’re interested we just have to copy it (Ctrl + C) and paste it (Ctrl + V), or just hit Ctrl+J. This will create a new layer containing only the selected parts. Your layers should look like this:

To do a basic color change we can use Hue/Saturation. You can find it pressing Ctrl + U or go to Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation. Try these settings:

Hue: +139 / Saturation: 0 / Lightness: 0

This is the color you get using these settings. if you change the Hue value you’ll get different results so give it a try.

Color Change using Blending Options

You can star a new document or continue working on the one you are now. Select the eye, and copy into a new layer.

Right click on the new layer and select Blending Options. Choose Gradient Overlay and use this settings to get the style you can see in the image above.

Another way to change the eye color using blending options would be Pattern overlay.

To get this effect just select Pattern Overlay from the Blending Options and use this settings.

If you can see the pattern I’m using, just click on the little arrow and select nature patterns.

For the blend mode I chose Soft Light which what I think works best for this pattern, you can try diferent blend modes and different patterns.

Let me show you the last one.

For this effect I used two blending modes: Inner Shadow and Inner Glow. Let me show you the settigns to each one:

In this tutorial we’re going to give our face a zombie look in just a few steps. You’ll be as scary as this:

You can star using this picture or just use any pic you like. Of course the values I’m going to set are for this picture. If you use your own maybe you have to change the settings a little.

The first thing to do is to select the hair. Use any methos of masking that works for you. In this case I use a Quick Mask, because I think is fast a efficient for hair. You will find it at the bottom of the tools panel or just hit Q.

Grab the Brush tool and select Black as you’re foreground Color. Use a Soft brush and start painting the hair. Yes, it’s red. Don’t Panic, it’s red because it’s a mask.

Once we cover the hair just hit Q or click once again on the icon I’ve showed before. You’ll get a mask like this:

As you can see the mask is selecting everything but the hair. We need to invert the selection. To do this go to Select > Inverse or just Hit Ctrl + Shift + i.

Now we copy the selection and paste it in a new layer.

Now with this new layer is that we start working. First of all we need to create an adjustment layer. We’ll use Color Balance. So click no the half filled icon on the bottom part of the layers panel and choose color balance.

Ok, now this adjustment layer is on top of the two other layers but we don-t want to modify the original, only adjust the one with the hair. To do this we need to convert our adjustment layer into a clipping mask. Just click on de Adjustment layer, go to Layer > create clipping mask and that’s it. You should get this on you layers panel:

Now Double click on the half filled icon you have on the layer and use these settings:

Now you see that the color is getting lighter but to get blond we need more than this. So let’s create a new adjustment layer. This time we’ll use selective color. Do the same you did with the previous Adjustment Layer and make it a clipping mask.

Selective color works for adjusting the colors one by one. We’ll start with red, which is the first by default.

Now select color: Yellow from the dropdown menu in the upper part.

Last we’re going to modify the Black color.

And we’re done! No, not quite yet. Change the hair layer’s blend mode to Screen. Now We’re done!

Your image should look like this:

DIFFERENT COLORS

RED:

If you want to get the hair red, just delete the  Selective color adjustment layer. Open once again the Color Balance Layer and use these settings. (If you starting with a new image you just add a color balance adjustment layer)

Of course it will vary from pic to pic so, have fun and try until you get what you’re looking for.

MAGENTA:

We do this with the color Balance layer. Use these settings:

BLUE:

Open the Color Balance layer and set these values:

Add a Selective color Adjustment layer. Select the color blue and set these values:

now choose Cyan color:

And that’s it. You can try different colors like green or orange, just vary the settings using color balance and selective color.
